As a founding partner of Jakubowitz & Chuang LLP, Tovia has extensive experience in foreclosure defense, mortgage modification, civil litigation and all areas of debt settlement. His experience spans all stages of a lawsuit from pre-suit investigation, from motion practice, discovery, and depositions to trial work. Tovia has experience in all types of litigation, ranging from fighting insurance companies to restore life insurance policies, to fighting big banks to help homeowners stay in their home. He has helped scores of homeowners obtain a modification of their mortgage loan. Tovia also has experience in all facets of intellectual property law, from filing trademarks and copyrights to defending clients in copyright litigation and negotiating license agreements. Before founding Jakubowitz & Chuang LLP., Tovia worked at a large general practice firm as an associate in the Litigation group.
In addition to litigation work, he has advised clients on restructuring and managing their debt, and when necessary, prepared and filed bankruptcy petitions for clients. Mr. Jakubowitz graduated from Fordham University, where he was a member of the Intellectual Property Law Journal. Before law school, he graduated from Brooklyn College with a bachelors of science in computer and information science, cum laude. Tovia is admitted in State of New York as well as the bar of the federal courts in the Southern District of New York and Eastern District of New York. He has also practiced before the Bankruptcy Court in New York.
